After graduating from the University of Colorado with a degree in Chinese language and Asian studies, I earned my Juris Doctor degree from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1979. I have been licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia since 1979 and in Hawaii since 1980. I started my career as a Captain in the Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, gaining valuable experience in the courtroom as a Deputy Assistant US Attorney and in the areas of environmental law and government contracts.
I joined the private law firm of Lyons, Brandt, Cook and Hiramatsu in 1983 and became a shareholder and director of the firm in 1988. My private practice centered on litigation and dispute resolution in matters involving construction, real estate, insurance and professional liability. My goal has always been to obtain a prompt and fair resolution of my client’s legal issues.
I retired from firm practice in 2019 and look forward to spending more time in my woodshop and assisting parties in dispute resolution as a mediator and arbitrator.
